The Hermit Glass Tarot Card Suncatcher

$30.00

With beveled edges to catch the light and a twist of hand-dyed gray ombre silk ribbon for hanging, this 3” by 5” glass suncatcher/ornament is beautifully displayed in a window, on a tree, or anywhere that the light will pass through its sandcarved image of The Hermit.

The Hermit is the tarot card ruled by Virgo (August 23 - September 23).

The hermit stands in solitude on a mountain range. His head is bent, suggesting inward thought. In his left hand, which represents the subconscious mind, he holds a staff, which he uses for guidance and balance. In his right hand, which represents his conscious mind, he holds a lantern with a six-pointed star inside. The six-pointed star, or Seal of Solomon, is a sign attributed to the legendary King Solomon, who used it to tame demons and speak to animals. Comprised of interlocking upward and downward pointing triangles (the symbols for fire and water), the six-pointed star can also be seen as the reconciliation of apparent opposites — of the conscious and subconscious, or of the spiritual and material worlds.

• Meaning: Soul-searching, Introspection, Solitude, Meditation, Self-reflection

• Element: Earth

• Ruling planet: Mercury

Each piece is individually sandcarved in our studio, using compressed air and abrasive to actually carve away the glass for a stunning three-dimensional image that you can actually feel with your fingertip (you can read more about the sandcarving process on our “About” page).
