The Devil Tarot Card Pint Glass
This can-shaped pint glass features an etching of the Devil, the fifteenth Major Arcana card in traditional Tarot decks.
The Devil is the tarot card associated with Capricorn (December 22 - January 20).
The Devil is represented in the form of Baphomet, or the Horned Goat of Mendes. A creature that is half man, half goat, with wings like a bat, Baphomet traditionally represents the balance between human and animal, or good and evil. On the Devil’s forehead is a reverse pentagram, which symbolizes evil because it overturns the proper order of things and demonstrates the triumph of matter over spirit. The Devil’s right hand is upraised and extended, the reverse of the benediction given by the Hierophant. In his left hand is a flaming torch, inverted toward the earth. The Devil is perched on a pedestal, and chained to the pedestal are a man and woman analogous with those of the fifth card, the Lovers. Both are horned and tailed to signify their animal nature but have human intelligence in their faces. The chains around their necks appear to be loose and easily removed.
