Our Folklore collection of porcelain eggs draws inspiration from Pysanky, a tradition of egg decorating in Ukrainian culture that originated in Pagan times. Handcrafted in fine porcelain and painted in rich cranberry red, each egg showcases a scene from a beloved story alongside traditional Pysanky motifs.
Our “Hansel & Gretel” egg depicts the siblings as they embark on their perilous journey through the forest, leaving a trail of bread crumbs behind them. The intricate design captures their adventure amidst rows of trees, symbolizing longevity, youthfulness, and growth. The alternating tree patterns are rendered to echo the ancient tradition of using leaves or branches to symbolize entire forests in pysanky.
